In some instances, when implants are not an option, a bridge can be used to replace a tooth or several teeth. Bridges are large structures that can be made from gold or porcelain. These durable materials are required for strength. The process for bridging spaces in the mouth are similar to that of making crowns. Dr. Macaulay will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap to receive the future bridge. An impression will be taken and sent to our off-site laboratory for fabrication. A temporary bridge will be made to help you chew in the meantime. The final bridge is delivered 2 weeks later. In specialty cases, you may be required to visit our off-site laboratory to get a color match of your teeth. Having a bridge in your mouth requires specialty products to clean at home. Your dental clinician will review alternate cleaning options with you.
